Founded in 2004, Spark is an organization dedicated to empowering middle school students across the Bay Area. Through mentorship programs, partnerships with leading companies, and a commitment to inclusivity and equity, Spark inspires young minds to envision brighter futures and bridge the opportunity gap, fostering a world where all students build confidence, achieve, and thrive.

Key Challenges

Spark faced significant branding challenges, including a lack of a unified story and purpose, disconnected regional identities, and an unclear portfolio of services and programs. These issues hindered effective stakeholder engagement and risked confusion among volunteers and students. To overcome these hurdles, Spark needed to refine its brand narrative, align regional efforts, and provide clarity about its offerings to fulfill its mission effectively.

Strategic Results

Collaborating closely with the Brand Strategy and Web Development teams, my role as Design Director was instrumental in crafting a transformative brand identity for Spark. We worked together to unify Spark’s narrative and purpose, bridging regional divides and streamlining service offerings. This collaborative effort played a pivotal role in Spark’s remarkable success in empowering middle school students and promoting equity in opportunities.
